I was told that OOB is very cold so I brought scarf with me. The weather was like 34 degree Celsius and a saying came to my mine, 'a calm heart keeps you cool'. I calmed myself down, watched the scenery but still I was melting. Speaking of the weather, some people describe it as 'women' since it is as unpredictable as women. It can reach 35 degree or higher in daytime and 8 degree at night time so it is suggested to come here with summer and winter clothes. Yet, the weather couldn't stop Americans and tourists from going to the beach. They were wearing tank top. I remember once I was sitting in front of a heater and my roommate came home from the beach. When I was about to tell him that I found a well functioning heater in this chilly morning, I noticed that he was bare chested. He told me it was not that cold and were laughing at me omg so embarrassing. Let's get back to my mission in OOB. I need to work in a theme park called palace playland. However, I was wondering why this place is so quiet that I have no clue how the playland attracts people and earn money when I first arrived OOB. Very quiet in mid June. It turns out that OOB is a seasonal city where it will be flooded with people in summer. A lot of people in July. Let's talk about some dos and don'ts here. First, don't stand and wait next to the pedestrian crossing. I can vividly remember the time when I was talking with my friends right beside the crossing. Suddenly a voice came out, ' Are you guys crossing?' At that time, a few cars were waiting in front of the crossing for us. Then, we realized that cars here are very patient that they will wait until you finish crossing the road. That's sweet of drivers. Second, be nice to people, just do in Rome as Romans do. If you go to bank or supermarket in HK, the first thing staffs may say is 'what do you need?' On the contrary, people in OOB will ask ' how are you doing?' What really surprised me was their expressive faces. You don't need to listen to the words in order to understand their emotion and this is what I extremely enjoying watching. Sometimes I am too appreciative to their facial expression even when they are quarreling with one another. Anyway, this is a fun thing and please do not feel shy to respond to their enthusiasm by giving at least a smile. Third, look people in the eyes when having conversation. In our culture, it might be shy or rude if you stare at others' eyes. Yet, Americans love making eye contact with you in a way that makes me feel natural and connected. Oxytocin is a hormone produced during eye contact which is considered a bonding hormone. This natural interaction recalls my memory of Wonder woman. 詳情: (非廣告) An interesting website said that couples with strongest love are able to hold eye contact for a longer period of time. I can't wait to tell you about interacting with local Americans and work related stuffs. See you next time ;)
