As a man lives so shall he die. As the falls, so shall it lie. Yesterday, I watched a film called "The Armstrong Lie" in class. Let me introduce the background of this movie to you first. This movie is directed by Alex Gibney, an American documentary film director and producer. Alex Gibney is named as the most important documentarian of our time, by Esquire magazine in 2010. I've watched a fantastic documentary film one month ago, it called "Zero Days", which also directed by Alex Gibney in 2016. "Zero Days" was selected to complete for the Golden Bear at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival. For the film "The Armstrong Lie", it is all about risk taking, decision making and life planning after a big "Wrong". Lance Armstrong is a world champion, a big idol and a legend, but he broke the rule which a sports player shouldn't and lie to his supporter. This incident shocked the world, the public started to blame and he got into trouble because he had been dishonest to his supporter and the world. Also, he should find a way to solve because there was an investigation processing by the international sports organization, he has to settle this trouble clean and efficiently if he wanted to get back on the race. But, we all know, it is so hard to come across and stay strong because the fault affected to his future directly. From this case, we should learn that everyone should take their own responsibility to their fault. To me, I think Armstrong is luckily. It is because he got a chance to explain detailed to the public and some of the audience started to support him again after watched the film. He is luckily to have Alex Gibney to film his story and have audience still care about him. On the days before, people is hard to find a media to help explaining but we have Facebook, Instagram, twitter or other social media which can help to share our own opinions to the public now. We need to treasure on what we have and use them correctly. As medicine, it is the best thing for you to recover from sick, but drug abuse will hurt your body and brain. Alex Gibney said "Objectivity is dead. There's no such thing as objectivity. When you are making a film, a film can't be objective." Documentary film is an important media for bringing audience to get closer to face the truth and reality. It is the best document to record and maintain history and the fact, so as to bring the "present" know more about the "past". People always blame, but, mostly they are not base on the fact or true information but their thought, this is not an intelligent way to express their opinion. Even the message from newspaper or magazine, they are not always correct, so we should make a conclusion by more information including information from all media such as internet, newspapers, magazine, TV news, videos, films...... etc. At the end, I would like to suggest all of you to watch "The Armstrong Lie" and go to cinema to support "Zero Days". We have to support all productions all around the world, no matter which art form it produce by, especially "Documentary Film".
