I have worked at the same power plant for eight years now, and I have seen firsthand how important it is to be meticulous in our work, which is why we must have the best emissions monitoring that there is. In a lot of industries nowadays, emission and fumes are unavoidable, and it is too bad, but that is how it is in the power industry. There are a number of rules and restrictions mostly imposed by the federal government to make certain that we are keeping as much pollution out of the atmosphere as possible. There are many various companies that offer emissions monitoring, and as always these companies very in quality and experience. I first realized that we needed an update to our continuous emissions monitoring system when I hired some specialists to analyze our output and understood that we were releasing a slightly higher Liquid sulfur dioxide amount of carbon dioxide than our current system indicated. As the plant manager, I knew that this could cause some real problems, so I began looking for other options. I checked out some manufacturers and compared and contrasted their devices and could see some huge differences in the value of their products. I needed to have the very best that we could get, otherwise, we would not be able to meet our own lofty standards. One of my old friends from college who works in a similar position told me about the company they use for emissions monitoring, and when I checked them out I was really impressed with their qualifications. I soon gave them a call and we made plans for them to come out and set everything up and get rid of the old equipment that was just not that accurate. When we got the new system all set up, I could definitely see a real difference in the way they ran, and was delighted with the way it was working. Although it didn't make a gigantic difference in the simple day to day operations in the plant, we all felt better knowing that we were not releasing more emissions than we were supposed to be. When we started submitting reports with the new equipment, we were very pleased to have cut the amount of carbon dioxide that we were releasing into the environment. I know that there is room for a lot of growth and progress in the power industry and resources like this truly help to move it along.
