Having lived in Hong Kong for a long time, I’ve grown accustomed to the high costs of dental treatments. However, my recent visit to Shenzhen for dental care was truly eye-opening. I hadn’t expected the standard of dental services in China to have developed to such a high level. In Hong Kong, a dental cleaning typically costs around HKD 600, while a filling is about HKD 1,000. In contrast, at Vickong Dental in Shenzhen, a cleaning costs only CNY 200, and a filling is just RMB 380—a significant difference in price.Moreover, the dentist provided me with a complimentary CT scan to analyze my oral health. I asked her numerous questions, and she patiently explained everything without any hint of annoyance. Through this experience, I also learned about the different materials used for fillings, such as resin composites, glass ionomer, and amalgam. I opted for a resin composite, specifically a type called P60. This material closely matches the natural color of teeth, blends seamlessly with my original tooth shade, and is highly durable, making it an excellent choice to replace the missing part of my tooth. And the cost? As I mentioned earlier, just CNY 380—such great value灬! Of course, cost is only one aspect. What impressed me the most was the welcoming attitude of the staff. The entire process was well-organized, and there were staff members who spoke English, so I didn’t need to worry about language barriers. The waiting area was spacious, with a large TV playing Cantonese dramas, though I couldn’t understand them. Seeing such an internationalized dental clinic—with doctors who can speak English, Cantonese, and other languages—I felt it was incredibly accommodating for Hong Kong residents and expatriates alike. If you’re considering getting dental treatments in Shenzhen, it’s undoubtedly a more cost-effective option compared to Hong Kong.
