Apologies for updating my blog that late... >< I write the passage in English this time as as advised by my two friends who have created good memories in my career. Specially dedicated to you guys, Sam & Elis! With sudden news from Elis who will be leaving HK shortly to pursue her dreams in Korea, we quickly organize our 'Last Supper' gathering in one of the reputable Dai Pai Dong stalls, 愛文生, for her to experience authentic Hong Kong taste. 愛文生 locates in Sham Shui Po, a bit distance walk (around 8 mins) from the MTR station (Exit A2). It's not hard to locate from its open kitchen and obvious Dai Pai Dong setting. We arrived about 7:15pm on a weekday which there was quite a lot of people occupying most of the tables already. It offers both indoor and outdoor seats which we chose to sit indoor. Undoubtedly there's nothing to comment about its dining environment, but at least the floor is not wet. We 4 people ordered the following dishes together with two Tsing Tao beers, to farewell our good friend. 1) 蝦醬炒通菜 (Stir fried 'Tong Choi' with Shrimp Paste) 2) 椒盬鮮魷 (Deep fried Squid in Spiced Salt) 3) 黑椒豬手 (Pork knuckle in Black pepper sauce) 4) 豉椒炒蜆 (Stir fried Clams with black soy bean and pepper sauce) They quickly served the food once we've ordered. Portion is large enough for sharing. 1) was normal, nothing special. 2) is my favorite among all, thick, springy squid pieces being wrapped in a thin, crispy deep fried layer. Amount of spiced salt is not excessive, having a good balance with a small dip of Worcestershire sauce. Yummy :) 3) was popular among the restaurant which the majority of tables ordered it. It was served on a hot metal plate which the sizzling sound and steam stimulated our appetite. Meat was tender and you can feel the 'springy' skin when you cut it, but taste for black pepper sauce can be richer. Just a bit disappointing for 4). Clams were small and sauce was a bit over spicy, though it sounded a good side dish to serve with chilled beer. Overall, the bill was less than $150 per head which was reasonable to 4 of us. What a pleasant night to recall our good memories, share our present and look forward to the future. All the best and enjoy your time in Seoul, Elis! 愛文生 Address: 215 Lai Chi Kok Road, Sham Shui Po Phone: 2393 9315 Remarks: Only takes walk-in
