Bryan的故事四十 Bryan's chapter 40 租車陷阱 Possible car rental scam 這原本可能是一篇潛力廣告文,怎麼說也是人生第一次揸Benz,可惜事情發展的方向,令文章變成了牢騷暨警告文。 原本到里斯本旅遊沒有打算租車,但為了將Óbidos擠進原本已經密麻麻的行程,在飛往葡萄牙之前的晚上,才預訂了Drive on Holidays的一部自動波Benz。 租車過程算是順利,到達的時候,租車公司還在清洗坐駕(但其實我們遲了預定時間大半小時取車)。我們辦好了手續,買了額外的保險,職員帶我們極速一覽全車,出發!離開租車公司時,下著雨,路經某個已停雨的地方,我才發現駕駛座前的擋風玻璃上,有一個不能磨滅的「小水點」。由於警覺意識不足,加上以為有額外保險護體,所以我們沒有多理會。 旅程飛快地結束,到了還車日,我們準時到達租車公司,職員繞車一周後,告訴我們稍等,之後再有另一人來查車。職員告訴我們,車身上有一條新的花痕,由於我們購買了額外保險,所以不用賠償。但是擋風玻璃上的凹洞,卻是保險不包的。又說我們離開時告訴了我們,出了甚麼事要報警和通知他們,如今我們要賠償此損毀。賠償金額嘛,他打了通電話,盛惠500歐元!我們理論著,我問即使我們報了警,我們也是避免不了賠償?他回答說是,又說500歐元已經很優惠,因為公司扣了我的信用卡1800歐元左按金(其實按金金額也是奇高的)。正當雙方拉鋸之際,有友人說找找照片,而我這次旅程正是失策地沒有幫汽車環迴360度拍照。但挾著揸Benz的豪氣,有友人在租車公司驗車時,用電話拍了車的正面和背面,正好拍到驗車人員和凹痕。租車公司職員無話可說,立即快速地完成我們還車的手續。臨走時,我向職員留下一句:「下次你們租車時,你們的職員應該更小心地驗車。」職員回我一句:「你們也有責任。」抱歉也沒有說,頭也不回地走了。 說真的,我們的確應該小心驗車,不被快速驗車的職員所迷惑。幸保500歐不失,我們要多謝iPhone,還有下次驗車時要小心,為汽車做個360度照片留案,還有black list Drive on Holidays這間公司。牢騷文完結。 This article was a potential ad, about my first driving experience on a Mercedes-Benz. Unfortunately, the development of the experience led towards a complaining / warning article. We didn't plan to rental a car in Lisbon at first, but in order to squeeze Óbidos into our packed itinerary, but reserved a Mercedes-Benz from "Drive on Holidays" the day before we departed to Portugal. The car pick up process was somehow smooth. The car was being washed (though we were almost an hour late for the pick up). We finished the paper work, bought the excess damage insurance, and the staff took us to the quick tour of the vehicle. When we left, it was raining. Not unless we reached somewhere dry, I found out that there was an "inerasable raindrop" on the front window. Without the proper sense of alert, and thought we were fully covered by the excess damage insurance, we continued our trip. We arrived the car rental company on time on the car return day. A staff walked around and checked the vehicle once, and asked us to wait for another staff member to do another check up. We were then told that there was a new scratch on the door, which is covered by the excess damage insurance. But, the cavity on the window was beyond the cover, and we didn't call the police or the company when we discover the damage. He made a phone call, and told us that we have to pay 500 Euros for the cavity. I asked even if we called the police, we would be charged for the loss anyway? He said yes. And said 500 Euros was already discounted as we were charged 1800 Euros for the deposit (which was really high). As we argued, a friend found a photo of the car, while doing the check up. The photo shows the staff, and the cavity. The car return process finished soon, without an apology. When we left, I urged the staff to have a more careful car check up next time. He replied that we were also responsible, and he left. Honestly, we should also pay more attention to the checking process, shouldn't let the staff rush you for the details.
