I thought I would never set foot in Mongolia again. Months later, we rerouted through Russia and once again attempted to enter Mongolia—this time via the Russia (Kyakhta) – Mongolia (Altanbulag) land border from Ulan-Ude. This time, there was no rejection, no resistance—we finally succeeded in stepping onto Mongolian soil, all the way to Ulaanbaatar.
