Steam officially released a preview of its fall 2020 sale on December 19. Steam says this fall sale is the biggest ever in terms of developer and publisher revenue. The sale will run from November 27 to the wee hours of December 3, during black Friday events across North America.In terms of the number of players, more than 1 million players bought a game on Steam for the first time or made a small transaction, an increase of 33% over the same period last year, and some bought Steam Level Up. Meanwhile, the number of online gamers peaked at nearly 24 million, up 41 percent from the same period last year.In terms of game deals, Steam's fall sales have increased across all revenue benchmarks, and more games have been successful this year. Steam says, "We've done a lot of work to include personalized recommendations and expand the way customers can participate in special events. The new type center introduced this year makes it easier for customers to explore interesting subcategories of games in depth."Besides, the Steam Awards campaign, which was launched during the sale, received 5.3 million votes from players, submitted more than 30 million nominations, and received wide participation. Steam says that after counting all the nominations, the top five entries in each category will go to a final vote during the winter sale.In terms of feedback, this year more than 1.6 million customers unlocked a badge level by writing reviews of their favorite games, injecting a lot of positive recommendations for popular and unpopular games.
