One of the most important features in World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Classic is the absence of presence. Why: It permanently ruins the classic feel. While Dragon Storm, the new retail expansion announced a few days ago, has captured the lion's share of the developer stream, there is also a big announcement for all fans of World of Warcraft Classic. The Wrath of the Lich King expansion also gets the classic treatment: heading to Northrend. However, one of Wrath of the Lich King's most controversial features was absent: the dungeon finder. According to the developers, it just doesn't fit the classic feel. What is Dungeon Finder? During the course of Wrath of the Lich King, the dungeon finder appeared very late. Its introduction is considered one of the most pivotal events in World of Warcraft history. Some celebrated the launch and finally experienced Dungeons, while others saw it as "the first step in the demise of World of Warcraft."Dungeon Finder allows players to open a menu and then log into a dungeon from anywhere in the world. The tool then searches for other players with the same dungeon aspirations and forms a suitable team. If enough players are found, you will be teleported directly to the dungeon and can start before you are teleported back to the starting point at the end of the dungeon. Why is Dungeon Finder so controversial? For many players, gathering a team over an extended period of time is just part of World of Warcraft. Going to dungeons together, especially with team members, is an important part of the social experience in World of Warcraft. Friendships and guilds are often the result of players being together for long periods of time, a necessity in classic game design. Fast-moving dungeons disrupt and prevent such experiences.See World of Warcraft: In patch 9.2, you have to farm reputation - and many people are angry againDungeon Finder is especially popular with players who have less time or who don't want to communicate too much with others. You can quickly find a team without having to travel long or find the right players. Why did the developers ignore the dungeon finder? Kevin Vigue touched on this topic in an interview with PCGamesN Magazine. He explained:I met some people in the dungeon who became lifelong friends. For me, that's what makes Classic great, and a lot of it comes down to how you treat others [im Spiel] understanding. […]Wouldn't it feel like a classic if we had the automatic dungeon finder in Wrath of the Lich King patch 3.3? We decided this wasn't the game we wanted to make. What will WoW Classic do? Rather than implementing a dungeon finder, developers prefer to extend the functionality of the group search tool. There will be some modernization here to make it easier to find like-minded players. We want to improve the tool so players can continue to find like-minded groups of players who want to experience the same content as them. But we wanted to do it in a way that felt more "classic" and still had the social feel of Element, where you can still go to dungeons together and have conversations along the way, because that's what makes Classic stand out and so special. The group search tool has simplified group finding, but requires active player participation. There is no automatic assignment, and party leaders manually select their members.See also Hilleman and the Eighth in Lübeck: After being caught in the bottomless battle in Paris announcementWhen does WotLK Classic start?
