Today I was very happy that join the guest speakers held by SportSoHo. At the beginning, the guest had introduced the background of this magazine. The magazine is focus on sports development process. In the magazine, they are focus on health, lifestyle and sports. Also, partner is their concern. Moreover, they were mentioned that the current situation and challenges in running a sports magazine in Hong Kong. They were admission that their main audience was around ages in 30-60. They thought that this target group can have influence in sports and they are concern about sports. They referred to the current situation that some magazine had close down. The main reason was the operators didn’t have the idea on design and focus on the content. Also, the role of magazine is unidirectional. Therefore the audience cannot give the feedback after finishing reading the magazine. In contrast, for the online version is more convenience for the communication. SportSoHo also using the online platform to promote sports now. For example, using the YouTube to upload the sports function on time and using the Facebook to promote the activities. After I finished the guest speaker, I thought that running a sports magazine in Hong King was very difficult. The market of the magazine was declining. People always use the smartphone to browse the news, because it is very convenient. Therefore I agree with the guest speaker that running the magazine and the company can having the online platform at the same time. The online platform can easier to draw the attention from the audience and attract them to buy the magazine.
