Last Friday, I went with my colleagues to Shau Kei Wan for lunch, this restaurant is new to all the 5 of us. We arrived at 12 noon so there were plenty of seats available. It was soon filled up in 15 minutes!! When we looked at the menu, there were a lot of dishes to choose, from pizza, spaghetti, Japanese curry, Malaysian, Hainan chicken to Chinese cuisines. But I had my target before coming, which is the steamed glutinous rice with eel. The wooden box was large but there was only 1 layer of glutinous rice, still it was already more than enough for girls! The eel was larger than I expected. It was well cooked and soft that it melted directly in my mouth without chewing. The sauce is sweet and savoury, a perfect match with the eel and rice. 鰻魚籠仔糯米飯 $68 Some of us chose the seafood version of the steamed glutinous rice. There were 3 kinds of seafood with 3 or more pieces on. The taste was mostly garlic. 海鮮籠仔糯米飯 $68 Noted that the Hainan chicken is a signature dish so we ordered half to share. Look at the plate it is so grand! We chose the more expensive type of chicken. Its meat was tender and smooth, the skin was in fact delicious too but since it was fat so... we did not eat much. We thought the sauce was not typical and we liked the sour and spicy one the most. 海南雞 (half) $148 There is a coffee bar in the restaurant but we had not tried, maybe next time! I would like to come again to try the curry, as it looks tasty (from the table next to us). 南駅 Hainan South 筲箕灣筲箕灣東大街59-99號東威大廈地下13號舖
