When I was Secondary six, my geography teacher brought us to the High Island Reservoir for the site visit. To me, it is a memorable experience. Therefore, I want to share my feeling and some of the basic information to you all. High Island Reservoir is located in the southeastern part of the Sai Kung Peninsula, was opened in 1978 helping to alleviate water shortage problems in Hong Kong. It is the Hong Kong Global Geopark in 2011. Can you see me in this photo?? Haha There are various rock sections near the East Dam of the Reservoir were exposed, in particular to the hexagonal volcanic columns. It is a special feature of the rocks. It is a good experience to go to see the special feature and structure of the stone. You can see the Hong Kong's oldest and youngest rocks at there. The rocks are 400 million to 65 million years old. It is a natural wonder. The trail is very short. You can finish it in half an hour. But there is more to see around as the scenery surrounding the High Island Reservoir. It is so awesome! I have never see the rocks are having different layers. It is very similar to a book. A huge book! It is definitely worth to visit.
