Gaia Ristorante has launched a high tea promotion of ten exquisite creations from our Afternoon Snack Menu with a house wine or cocktail at a price of HK$198 everyday from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The Italian restaurant offers Gaia’s signature Roman-style pizzas, Pizza Rughetta and Pizza Margherita, which are thin and crispy with various toppings. If you just want to grab a bite, try out our Calamari Fritti with trio of special Mayo: Aioli, chilli, and Squid Ink. Pasta dish Tagliolini & Pomodoro features home-made tagliolini with a fresh tomato sauce. It also offers a Seasonal French Oyster Specials pricing HK$318 for half a dozen. The tender and flavourful flesh is perfect with the Italian house wine special in early summer. Food 5 Italian Cheese Platter Castelmagno Gratin Mattarone Peghera Crutin Al Tartufo They are all Italian cheeses for sharing , and the bread is homemade bioche, however it is nothing like the bioche that you can buy in normal bakery, amazingly, it has a mild floral flavour to it, and it goes nicely with the rich goat and sheep cheeses on the board. Tuna Avocado tartarThe most exciting part of this dish is the whole peppercorn and watermelon hiding in the bed of tuna tartar, it is very pungent that it tickled your tongue while biting into it. The whole combination was quite interesting and we couldn't stop eating it. One thing that can be improved was the texture of the avocado. I think it would be better if the avocados were a bit more ripe so that there won't be any chunks. Accinghe del Cantabrico The Cantabric anchovies are from Spain and they are prepared in two different ways in one dish. The one in the tin can is anchovies are cooked with just salt then covered in oil after clearing the salt out, while the other one on the toast are fresh anchovies soaked in water and vinegar then boil for one second before they are served. Traditionally, we should put butter on the toast then enjoy it with the savoury anchovies. We like the one in oil more as it is way more flavourful and more tender than the boiled one. It is not the easiest thing to find good anchovies in Hong Kong but Gaia has now been on our list when we want it! Panino & PorchettaProbably not the most surprising dish on the menu yet all the ingredients were very fresh, including mozzarella cheese, lettuce and roasted pork (more like just normal ham). Fries were also crispy and nicely seasoned.Maybe we have taken too long before we dig in, the ciabatta bread was soggy because of the water from the steam! We highly recommend you to eat this asap! Don't wait before it is too wet! Pizza Rughetta It is the most popular dish in this afternoon tea set and we can totally see why! We were totally in love with the crispy thin pizza crust. The mozzarella, fresh tomato, rocket and parma just combines nicely together and form a mouthgasm. You can probably find this pizza in every Italian restaurant but we particularly like the crispiness and everything about it! Tagliolini & Pomodoro What's not to love about homemade pasta? The pasta was al dente and full of egg flavour, the tomato is again fresh as well as the freshly chopped basil. Simple and delicious! Drinks Gaia RaspberryOne of the signature drink in the afternoon tea menu is this non-alcoholic drink. It is made of strawberries, raspberries and blackberries with ice. Spritz This very popular Italian cocktail was nicely done in Gaia which reminded me of my trip to Italy! Tasted authentic! MargaritaLemon margarita was very refreshing, and the giant ice melts slowly which makes me think that the drink is never going to finish, this chilled drink is perfect for this hot summer. Menu Overall, the price is very affordable for this higher than average quality of Italian food. Do give their pizza and anchovies a go, and try not to leave your food wait until it is cold otherwise the bread may get soggy, no one wants any soggy food, right? We are definitely going back again if we are looking for a place to hang out with friends in Sheung Wan as this place is very close to the MTR exit and the outdoor area is perfect for people watchers.
