Attention all SM artists’ fans, today I will be sharing with you my experience going to the SM COEX in August and December, 2015. SM COEX is a building own by the SM Entertainment, one of the biggest and well known artist agency, or you may call machine in Kpop world. SM Entertainment is an artist management (and making) company that is one of the top 3 for years in the Kpop industry and have been debuting well known artists from groups of the opener of the Hallyu wave such as TVXQ, Super Junior, Girl Generation and the recent well known (younger groups) Shinee, F(x), EXO, Red Velvet and more to come. SM COEX has 6 floors and each floors has a different funcation(?). On the first floor is entrance and the welcome zone, there are wall LCD displays playing SM artist music videos or SM Coex promotional videos. On the second floor is the merchandise store for SM artists, called the ‘SUM (Celebrity shop)’. Product ranges from CDs, artist merchandises such as bags with album and song names printed on, candy, snacks, accessories and clothes with artist name or signature songs or album printed on, to products that artists are spoke persons of, and Korean cultural related souvenirs. They have a wide range of products and all products are high quality, given the price is high quality too. You might be spending hours there looking and deciding what not to buy or trying really hard not to put everything in your shopping bag. 點擊圖片放大 On the third floor is the SMTOWN Studio. SMTOWN Studio offers ‘real artists experience, with the help of professional staffs’. Packages of kpop idol experiments ranging at different prices for categories such as vocal and dancing training, recording your own cover of kpop songs, shooting a MV and taking professional kpop like shots by professional photographer. Prices inquiries are only available if you visit SMTOWN Studio in person. On the fourth floor is the LIVErary Café, where they sell drinks and food with your favorite groups name and even face on it. The main feature (to me) is that all the tables and chairs are sign by the SM Artist! It’s like playing treasure hunt when looking for your favorite artists’ signature! At this café, there are music players for you to listen to albums of SM Artists and maybe discover a new group that you may like! 點擊圖片放大 +5 The SUM pop up café have sweets and snacks for each group. I bought the Super Junior set when I was there in Aug last year. The drink was blue lemonade I think, I still have that bottle with him. But remember do not put boiling hot water in it, a friend of mine did so and it changed shape haha. The SMTOWN Theater is located on the fifth floor. Kyuhyun, Ryeowook, Taeyeon and Jounghyun held personal mini concerts at the theater. SMTOWN musical ‘School of OZ’ was shown there as well. Other concerts recordings and holograms are shown at the theater as well for example Super Junior World Tour, SMTOWN Live world tour and SMTOWN LIVErary. There are a few MUST DO activity on this floor too! First is the photo box! The photos box allows you to take pictures with your favorite artist as if they standing next to you! You can choose the artists you would like to take pictures with. After the shooting, you can pay around 5000won(?) to print the picture by SMTOWN. There is also the hand printing and the palm matching game at the end of the floor. The machine analyzes your palm and see the similarities with the artists of your choice. It also tells you the top 3 artists that matches your palm as well. There is a 15-meter screen at the lobby of this floor displaying the newest music videos from SM as well! It like watching a music video on a movie theater screen! So good! 點擊圖片放大 Watch their promotion video on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=13&v=FfW7NnBcDyg This is the website from the Korea Tourism site, Visit Korea: http://english.visitkorea.or.kr/enu/ATR/SI_EN_3_1_1_1.jsp?cid=1024886 There is a studio tour for free at the SM Town (SM COEX) till the end of March this year, check it out if you will be in Seoul around this time and interested in getting to know the kpop more!
