Admitting that the main purpose of coming over to Tokyo is for food, me and my travel buddy PS were focus on good restaurants in Town, preferably Michelin Starred ones, the fact it, even though we make reservation 2-3 months in advance it doesn’t mean that we will be able to find a table that we want. One of them we pick at the end is a Michelin starred Sushi restaurant, I cant recall how I found it, but given the fact that it doesn’t located in the tourist area yet still getting Michelin recommended, it’s gonna be good. 5 minutes away from Azabu-Jūban Station, we arrive at 7pm which is the original reservation time, the staff there doesn’t speak any English therefore all we can tell them is “ from Sheraton Hotel” and we are having Omakase. One of the guest there speaks English so she asked if we have any dietary preference, we don’t so we just eat what the chef serve us. We begin with “sea urchin fresh from the shell” I am not a huge fan of Wasabi, chef added a bit of soy sauce in there so we just need to use the spoon to scope it out and eat it. It’s very fresh and sweet. Sooooo yummy! Then we have some crab meat, they removed all the shell so we just need to dip it in the yuzu vinegar and eat them, a bit of critism on it is , I could still found some of the shell when I was eating, that happened to me before in another restaurant before. Just indicate that it isn’t easy to work on it, gotta be extra careful. Big clams was serve, not much of seasoning except the sever spiced power. Very juicy piece and if possible would want a few more pieces! Funny enough we have tamago roll in between , 4 big piece to share between us, not those very soft freshly made ones, it is still soft with a strong character. Before having sushi we have got grill fish, of course they are not serving us mackerel. It texture taste slightly similar to Shishamo, the meat was soft and tender! Following a small plate of pickle ginger, is time for some Sushi! Not playing with the from light to strong favour rule, we begin with a piece of Chu-toro, almost melt in my mouth, nom nom! Ika sushi comes next, thicker than normal ika slices but not the thickest one, it isn’t as “sticky: in terms of its texture, but with a hint of crunchiness. It has a very unique texture. Not everyone like Ikura, but I am a fan of it so I liked it forsure, fresh ones doesn’t taste as salty and it has a little bit of crunchiness when you eat fresh! Our text piece is Hotate (Scallop), relatively small but itwe have g is very fresh and the texture is different from those frozen ones that we eat (use to have a couple of 1kg boxes in our freezer in the condo). We liked it a lot. Rather than the sea urchin in shell, we also got given a piece of Hokkaido Sea Urchin sushi. I was laughing at that time saying Sea Urchin overflow, but would you refuse to have it when you can eat fresh? Just like an intermission, we got some octopus “shashimi” they have been grilled and served with lime and sea salt, kinda chewy and will be a good pair up with alcoholic beverage. Ebi (shrimp) sushi was serve after the octopus, although it wasn’t a botan ebi but it taste really sweet still, such an enjoyable piece of sweetness. Then is is time for anago sushi , don’t mix up with unagi , we would regard it as a less oily option compare unagi. It has a stronger taste of eel and in a cook in a lighter sauce. A very soft and sweet piece! Out last sushi item was the fatty tuna roll with onion, that is the only I had tonight contains wasabi which I was okay with it since it wasn’t too strong, and somehow it would taste less oily with a very small amount of wasabi. This fatty tuna roll was so good! 3 pieces of them is a good amount, we loved it but we wont be able to finish the 4th piece since we are way too full for it. Soup was served after sushi, not just Miso but is clams with onion miso, we had more clams then soup I bet, and the clams are small but in a very good texture. With this bowl of soup, we are completely full and satisfied. Not serving us any desserts, we were given a piece of watermelon! The one we had tonight is a special species and it has a really think outer skin, very sweet and giving our omakase experience a sweet and happy ending. The chef and server doesn’t speak English but they are willing to communicate and explain , it will be good if we speak a little bit of Japanese that will make life easier for everyone? Right, time to pick up some Japanese again I guess? Our bill for two was less than 20,000 yen in total, roughtly cost us about $620 HKD per person for this meal, consider it is a michelin recommended place and the food taste so good, while Omakase dinner in HK will cost at lest $1,000 or abover per pax, it is a good bargin forsure, and an authentic Japanese Sushi experience. Would want to come back again forsure. 麻布十番 港鮨 http://gm.gnavi.co.jp/shop/0120153501/ 3 Chome-32 Azabujuban, Minato, Tokyo 106-0045, Japan +81 03-3452-4649 C C C C 1/3
