Hunters in world of warcraft are often the defenders of the group they are with. The Hunter is often used to attract foe's from a distance and draw them close to the group to divide and conquer. The Hunter is in charge of watching over the group, warning them of incoming foe's and keeping the group out of harms way. The Hunters lack of self healing abilities are countered by their regular avoidance of hand to hand combat in group play.Since the Hunter does not partake in melee combat they do not need to keep as much healing potions in their inventory therfore others might ask you to hold things for them. But the Hunter doesn't just sit in the background. Being the only world of warcraft character that is a master of long range weapons, the Hunter can use Auto Shot to rapidly fire long range weapons. Various wild animals in world of warcraft can be tamed by the Hunter to fight besides him. With the Hunters long range expertise and pets it can level up quite easily and works very well as part of any group. WOW Hunter Leveling & Quest Guide Some points to consider when choosing a Hunter race: When playing a Hunter, race selection is very important as which race you choose will determine how you will have to play your character. Whether you prefer Alliance or Horde doesn't make much difference as either one makes for a good Hunter. With the Burning Crusade expansion the draenei race is available to be a Hunter, otherwise you may choose a dwarf or night elf. I personally prefer dwarves as Alliance hunters because of their Gun specialization and Stoneform spell but that certainly doe's not mean dwarves are the only good Hunters. Naturally stealth is beneficial when playing a Hunter so the night elf is a great choice due to Prowl and Shadowmeld abilities. The night elf is considered by many to be the most effective alliance side hunter. If you would like to play a more aggressive style hunter consider the draenei for they will provide heal over time with the Gift of the Naaru and the Heroic Presence talent will assist the hunter and the hunters pets.Lets not forget the very effective horde races for the Hunter.Trolls are very good Hunters with their Bow Specialization and DPS bonus using Berserker. The troll has the very effective Beast Slaying talent which increases their damage to beasts. A unique benefit to the troll Hunter is their ability to replenish health with Restoration. As a tauren Hunter you will find Warstomp a great asset to help you keep your distance from foe's and do your damage from afar. On the flip side the orc's use their Hardiness ability to reduce stun effect duration by 15% and they also use Command to give their pets a 5% damage bonus. Blood elves (available with the Burning Crusade expansions) give the Hunter the Arcane Torrent skill effectively attacking enemy casters and replenishing mana much quicker. World of Warcraft Strategy Guide New characters are not very versatile so play within your means. Every character is different and needs to be played differently, the sooner you learn how your character works the better. Letting your character die will only equal time wasted so back away from battle when the going gets tough. If you can, use range weapons or casting as well as melee for the first several levels. Being on a quest at all times will help your character get better items and make leveling up easier. Always double check that you have done every quest in the area you are in and milk the ones that will help you in leveling up.
