The Sunset of Last Summer exhibits in Blindspot Gallery, located in Wong Chuk Hang. I like watching the sunset. Every time I watch it, I think the scene is amazing but feeling a little bit sad. I think Trevor Yeung has the same feeling of me. He starts the exhibition with his memory of a past love affair. He used the sunset to recall this memory. 點擊圖片放大 The color tune of those pictures changes from warm to cool. It seems that when Mr. Yeung watches the sunset, that warm color tone may let him to reminiscent of his ex-girlfriend, memorizing those happy and precious moment. After the sun goes down, the glowing gold vanishes. The grey sky seems reminding him that the girl is gone and he is alone now. I think that memory is precious and memorable for him and these pictures commemorate the past love affair. These pictures are big and blurry. It tells us that how important to him is this memory and all the memories in our mind is also blurry, unclear but we still clearly remember the feeling. It is one of my favorite creations in the exhibition. It is an interactive creation. You need to light the candles by yourself (or by the staff) to see this creation on the bench. Mr. Yeung used one red and one yellow candles to make the light turns to more orange not yellow. the light of the candles mean the sunset. We cannot watch the beautiful sunset everyday because of a variety of weather factors. Therefore, he tried to make the sunset indoor. It is amazing when the candles are lighted. The room is dark. It seems like you are watching the sunset and it is peaceful when you sit on the bench. This scene is brilliant but short. The candles can only burn for few minutes like our life or memory has been splendid but also short. I like this creation very much because it arouses echo in my heart. I want to introduce the other impressed art creations. This work is composed of three tables of different heights. These tables are associated with sociality. I think Mr. Yeung is not very social. He put some petals on the table. It seems that he thinks attending party is boring by spending time on picking off petals rather than talking with others. He expresses this feeling strongly on the highest table. In the highest table, he creates a space that people need in their struggle for survival and rest. You can feel free to stay under the table and escape the reality for a while. Do you realize that I never mention the title of each artwork? In this exhibition, you cannot find any title next to the artwork and they do not distribute the catalog because the artist wants you to comprehend and experience his work on your own without preconception. In fact, it is my first time to appreciate artwork without titles, but it is good because I can ponder deeply over what he wants to express in his work.
