點擊圖片放大 One day, I went shopping in Tsim Sha Tsui (TST). When I was walking past K11 which is a shopping mall located in the East TST MTR, I realized that there was a quiet art exhibition was surrounded by the bustling station. It was Love Seat exhibition. This exhibition featured chairs designed by 20 masters from Hong Kong and Shenzhen, as an integral part of the Biennale. There were only 20 chairs on exhibit. Half of them were based in Hong Kong, and the other half were based in Shenzhen. Those chairs were inspired by love, love for people, nature, traditional craft and local culture. I will elaborate more on the chairs I like. The name of this chair is 1 + 1 = 1 by Ajax Law and Virginia Lung. The designers are couple. They want to use folded chairs to represent their relationship. Folded chairs are one of the traditional furniture in Hong Kong. They are one-seat normally. However, the designers change it into double-seats. It means that a husband and a wife can sit on the same chair to create an ideal environment for them to chat more. That's why the name of the chair is 1 + 1 = 1. Actually, it is an innovative design. I have never imagined that folded chairs can be double-seats. A brand-new appearance still shows the resemblance of the traditional version. I like this chair because it has an innovative appearance with a meaningful idea but it is simple. It seems like the relationship of couples, or people can be very simple. We only need a suitable environment to communicate with each other. Different from the previous creation, this chair expresses the love for nature. It is The Stalk by Enoch Hui. In the past, there were a lot of plants covered the world. In contrast, one-third of them are disappeared by the consumption and destruction. If this situation continues, only a single stalk will remain. This chair alerts people to save our earth immediately, otherwise, we will lose all the natural resources. The chair formed with resin components assembled through Mortise and Tenon joint, referencing Chinese traditional carpentry. The mortise and tenon joint has been used for joining pieces of wood, but the designer used resin components instead of wood to show us that there are many alternatives. Wood is not unique materials to use in our daily life.
